I SAID YES….now what?

Updated: Jul 7, 2021

How does it go from YES, I am so excited, to OMG….how am I going to get it all done.

Its crazy isn’t it….trust me we know.

But like anything new, you just need to take it one step at a time and follow a plan.

Most of us are organized and good at planning a BBQ, maybe a dinner party or a celebration for a birthday in the backyard, but a wedding? WOW – yes, regardless of what size your wedding will be, it’s a whole different ball game.

The best thing you can do is find the perfect check list of planner and stick to it. If you haven’t done that yet, you can download our master wedding checklist which has 244 headings on it.

Yes, 244.

For your wedding you may use all or only some and under each heading you can add a subheading.

There are literally hundreds of decisions to make…so you need to keep an order of them to keep

sane over this period.

Here are my top ten tips on where to start:

  1. Announce the news to your parents, your bestie and then everyone else!

  2. Make sure mark your engagement too – some behind the scenes photos of your family announcement can be fun to then share on your socials.

  3. Decide if you are going to have an engagement party, or maybe scale that and put the money towards your perfect wedding.

  4. Find your perfect check list of planner – you can download ours here for FREE.

  5. Think about the season you want to be married in rather than just a date, that way you can be flexible.

  6. Identify the wedding pictures you love – that will help you choose a wedding venue “type” to start.

  7. Set up ONE location for all of your research to go – trust me on this one.

  8. Allocate time in your diary for research – but cut yourself off after that time (perhaps 3 hours per week) otherwise you will be paralyzed with overwhelm.

  9. Have the money discussion – without that you have no idea what choices you can make.

  10. Have the “why” discussion with your partner to make sure you can set up your framework to start making decisions by – if you do, it will be a dream when come to have to make the choices of what to keep and what to delete.

I have spent years in the event industry doing dinner for the Queen, lunches for international sporting stars and gala balls alike, and so many weddings you are losing count – literally over 1000 events so I know what you are feeling right now.

If you have to a burning question about you and your wedding, send me an email and I would be delighted to return an answer directly to you. I check my email inbox every 24 hours, so ask away.

There really is hundreds of decisions to make and thousands of dollars at stake here, so download our master wedding checklist and get started – but I am sure you have got this.
